In November 1988, Miyano and his friend Shinji Minato, an experienced rapist, came across Junko while she was riding her bicycle on her way home from work. They knew a lot about women’s sexual abuse and decided to kidnap and rap her.
The kidnappers then took her to an abandoned factory and held her captive for 44 days of agonizing torture. The brutal attack is known as the “44 Days of Hell,” and it remains one of the most heinous crimes in Japanese history. On November 25, 1988, Junko furuta was cycling home from her part-time job when a random boy assaulted her. Miyano, who had a crush on Furuta and was known for his braggadocio about his connections to the Yakuza, was enraged by her rejection of him.
The next day, he and his friends Minato and Watanabe went around Misato looking for women to rape. As he and Minato spotted her, Miyano kicked her off of her bike.
After capturing her, the boys tortured her for 44 days. They beat her and raped her multiple times. They inserted foreign objects into her vagina and anus, which caused severe burns, tearing, and bleeding.
Her abusers also poured lighter fluid all over her body and burned her legs. They also hung her up from the ceiling and made her sleep in their balcony in freezing weather. The worst part was that they didn’t let her call the police. Thankfully, one of the boys’ parents called the police.
