FBISD operates schools throughout Fort Bend County including Sugar Land and Meadows Place cities as well as small sections of Missouri City, Pearland, Clodine Four Corners and Juliff unincorporated communities.
District goals include inspiring and equipping students for futures that surpass their wildest expectations, by providing comprehensive educational services that address academics, behavior management, social and emotional health, mental wellness and mental wellbeing for the whole child.
Career and Technical Education
Students from K-12 gain access to Career and Technical Education through field trips, district-wide programs, and registration for advanced courses at James Reese Career and Technical Center. Students can explore programs related to architecture and construction, arts and audio/video technologies and communications, business management and administration, culinary arts, human services, health science, law & public safety and information technology. Many of these programs provide their graduates with industry-recognized certificates or licenses at the end of each program, while also giving students the opportunity to join nationally-recognized student organizations such as Future Business Leaders of America, SkillsUSA and Health Occupations Students of America.
Fort Bend ISD’s CTE program also features Enterprise Learning Labs, where students operate service businesses throughout the year to benefit the local community and gain valuable real-world experiences that deepen students’ skill sets, attitudes and beliefs. Furthermore, in 2017 a brand new state-of-the-art facility was constructed specifically to house advanced Career and Technical Education programming.
Student Recruitment
Students have the chance to explore their interests and develop essential career-readiness skills through our CTE programming, including advanced pathways such as engineering and culinary arts at James Reese Career and Technical Center and dual credit opportunities in certain subjects for high schoolers.
Skyward FBISD and Caissa Public Strategy will soon begin conducting student recruitment efforts using various tactics such as direct phone calls and canvassing field teams to reengage those students who have left our schools for charter schools. These initiatives aim to increase enrollment.
The Multilingual Programs Department will offer ESL Certification trainings throughout the year for FBISD teachers with valid Texas teaching certificates. Trainings will take place at each campus – please check your campus email for further details.
Extended Day
Students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 can stay on campus after school with our supervised Extended Day program, engaging in quiet homework and indoor or outdoor activities before parent pick-up time. This free enrichment-based program runs until regular school day ends.
Students registered for Extended Day will have access to all after-school activities they register for, such as field trips and a week-long spring break program. Registration will open up in early August.
Extended Day fees will be billed monthly during the fall 2023 session. Parents can alter their child’s schedule online through Amilia; after August 28 there will be a $25 change request fee per change request. After-School registration will also open early August; as this program only operates during school days and students cannot be released to adults not listed on their enrollment form or without photo ID, no exceptions can be granted.
Whole Child Health Initiative
The Whole Child Initiative at FBISD aims to promote mental, behavioral, social, emotional and physical well-being for all students in order to enable and motivate them towards fulfilling futures that exceed their wildest expectations. By meeting students’ needs effectively and appropriately they are best equipped and inspired to embrace futures beyond their wildest expectations.
ICRI data can assist policy makers and educators with creating, testing and evaluating national and Medicaid policy options to reduce these risks and promote well-being for children.
The Initiative works to build educational reform infrastructure aligned with the principles of Whole Child education through local influence initiatives. These involve hosting local discussions to identify support and barriers to the Whole Child approach and create a collaborative local influence agenda involving Texas ASCD Partners, other education leadership organizations, and political leaders who explore how whole child education supports student success in Texas.
